Layout and Print Window - Portrait Enhance Dialog Box

To display the Portrait Enhance dialog box, click the Image Correct button in the Layout and Print window, and then click the Portrait Enhance button in the Print Correction dialog box.

Here you can improve the quality of portrait images.

Note:
  • RAW data without thumbnail takes more time to be displayed.
  • Depending on the printer you select in the Select Paper window, the Portrait Enhance button is not displayed in the Print Correction dialog box and the Portrait Enhance corrections are not available.
  • You cannot apply Portrait Enhance corrections to images less than 240 pixels.
  • If the image cannot be recognized as a portrait image, Portrait Enhance corrections cannot be applied.
  • To achieve best results from Portrait Enhance corrections, the following images are recommended;
- Up to three persons appear in the image.
- All people face the front. Portrait Enhance corrections may not be applied to the faces taken in profile or at an angle.
- Faces are not too close (If faces are too close, part of them could be deformed after applying Face Definition correction).
- Faces are not covered by sunglasses, hat, or cap.
- Faces are not extremely large or small in the entire image.

Example of recommended image

  • In some photos, part of objects positioned near the human face could be deformed after applying Face Definition correction.
  • Depending on the image you choose, you may not achieve the desired effect after applying Portrait Enhance corrections.

The following table explains the items in the Portrait Enhance Dialog Box.

Fit to Window

Select the check box to view the entire image in the preview area.

Help

Click this button to show the help information for the screen currently displayed.

Click the button to increase the magnification or the button to decrease the magnification.

Note:
If the Fit to Window check box is selected, you cannot decrease/increase the magnification of the photo.

Image View area

Modified image is displayed. If Dual is selected in Image View, the original image is displayed next to the modified image.

Image View

Click Single to show only modified image in the Image View area. Click Dual to show the original image next to the modified image in the Image View area.

Face Definition

A slider lets you adjust Face Definition correction in six levels. If the slider is set to 0, Face Definition correction is not applied.

Skin Radiance

A slider lets you adjust Skin Radiance correction in six levels. Moving the slider to the right makes the skin radiance brighter. If the slider is set to 0, Skin Radiance correction is not applied. If Monochrome is selected in the Print Correction dialog box, Skin Radiance correction is not applied.

Undo button

Cancels the last Face Definition or Skin Radiance correction. This button becomes unavailable after clicking the Apply to All Photos button.

Apply to All Photos button

Applies Face Definition and Skin Radiance corrections to all the photos in the My Selection field. Depending on the image, these corrections cannot be applied to some photos.

Close button

Closes this dialog box and returns to the Print Correction dialog box.

Previous/Next button

Click Previous or Next to select a different photo to view or edit.

Note:
When you close the Portrait Enhance dialog box and Print Correction dialog box, the corrections you made are not reflected in the preview image in the Layout and Print window. The corrections are reflected directly to the printouts. Examine the results of your corrections on the printouts themselves.
